TORRINGTON, Wyo. — Eastern Wyoming College Men's Basketball announces that Austin Taylor will continue his academic and basketball career at the University of Northern Colorado, where he will serve as a student assistant coach.
Taylor departs the Lancers after a meaningful tenure with the program, demonstrating leadership, dedication and a strong work ethic that contributed to the team's success on and off the court. His transition into a coaching role reflects his deep understanding of the game and commitment to continued growth in basketball.
"This signing means that I can have a chance to learn and have a chance to better start my career," Taylor said. "I chose this four-year program because it gave me the highest level of opportunity, and the staff and facilities are elite. My time at EWC prepared me for the next level because it taught me to show up and get my work done, as well as develop my knowledge of the game and mindset. Bill Engel has had the biggest impact on helping me reach this point in my career. My goal for the next step is to find success and earn responsibility."
Head Men's Basketball Coach Bill Engel said he is proud of Taylor's development and excited for his next step in the sport.
"Austin has been a tremendous part of our program," Engel said. "His work ethic, leadership and basketball IQ make him a natural fit for coaching. We're proud to see him take this next step and know he will represent EWC well at the University of Northern Colorado."
As he transitions to the University of Northern Colorado, Taylor carries with him the foundation built at Eastern Wyoming College and is prepared to make an impact in his new role on the sidelines.
