A relentless competitor and proven program architect, Tim Larsen has built a career defined by player development, academic excellence, and sustained team success. He earned his bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of Phoenix in 2012 and his master’s in Sports and Recreation Sciences from Ohio University in 2018 — blending an understanding of human behavior with a strategic, analytical approach to the game.
Larsen’s coaching career began in 2011 as an assistant men’s basketball coach at Tohono O’odham Community College, where his attention to detail and relationship-driven approach quickly made an impact. In 2012, he etched his name in school history by launching TOCC’s inaugural women’s basketball program, establishing its competitive foundation from the ground up.
In 2015, Larsen expanded his leadership into the community with the Arizona Youth Partnership, focusing on drug and alcohol prevention, while also joining the Tucson Rattlers girls AAU program. Over seven years with the Rattlers, he mentored athletes who went on to various NCAA Division I, II, and NAIA programs — instilling a work ethic that matched their talent.
His return to TOCC in 2017 as Assistant Athletic Director and Associate Head Coach for men’s basketball set the stage for his move to Pima Community College in 2020. As an assistant with the Aztecs, Larsen helped guide the team to an 8th-place national finish at the NJCAA National Tournament in his first season and back to back Region I finals berths.
Now entering his fourth season at Eastern Wyoming College, Larsen has turned the Lancers into a rising Region IX contender. His teams have earned back-to-back Region IX Tournament appearances, produced 21 Academic All-Americans, sent 17 players to the next level (including 14 to NCAA programs), and achieved a 90% graduation rate — a model blend of athletic and academic achievement. Known for his up-tempo offensive style, disciplined half-court defense, and commitment to player development, Larsen’s squads are built to peak when the stakes are highest.
Highlights from his EWC tenure include a win over the #12 ranked team Pima Community College, multiple All-Region and All Defensive selections, and notable player advancements to schools such as the California Baptist University, Queens University of Charlotte, UT Tyler & California Poly University - Humboldt. Off the court, Larsen has been active in the Torrington community, running youth basketball camps and volunteering at local schools.
“I am proud to be part of the Eastern Wyoming College Lancer community,” Larsen says. “Our program is built on relationships, relentless work ethic, and a family-first culture. We want players who attack challenges, value academics, and represent this community with pride.”
Larsen’s dedication extends beyond basketball. He and his wife of 10 years, Bronwyn, along with their 10-year-old daughter Brooke, and 1-year-old son, Tatum, have embraced life in Torrington — committed to growing both the program and the community that supports it.
